The Effect of welding method and heat treatment on creep resistance of Inconel 718 sheet weldsAbstract The paper presents results of a study on the effect of welding technique and heat treatment on structure and creep resistance of welded joints made on thin (0.5–1.2 mm) Inconel 718 sheet with the use of GTAW and laser method without filler metal. Technological high-temperature creep tests consisted in measuring the time to rupture for sheet metal without and with welded joints under constant stress σ = 150 MPa and at constant temperature tc = (860 ± 2)°C.Sheet metal joints made with the use of GTAW method and laser-welded are characterized with a three-zone macrostructure, including the weld with size of dendritic grains depending on welding method, the heat-affected zone (HAZ), and the base material (BM). For GTAW method, with increasing sheet metal thickness, the observed values of parameter λ2s (distance between axes of second-order branches of dendritic grains) decrease from abo…

Inter-slice contour interpolation from 2D cross-sectional medical images via piecewise trend curve analysisAbstract--The 3D surface reconstruction from 2D cross-sections is a significant task, especially in the medical diagnosis. Therefore interpolation methods are necessary but difficult due to the 3D anisotropy between an intra-slice and inter-slice resolution. However, most of the existing literatures are inefficient to ensure the accuracy and robustness of results because of the noises or segmentation errors on the contour of slices. Moreover, the varying trend of the contour curves along the interpolation direction (z-axis), which is a very important factor in object surface description, is not well referred due to the difficulty on its representation in existing methods. In this work, we study an inter-slice interpolation method with a piecewise trend curve analysis to achieve the missing slices employing the underlying piecewise trend curve estimation of slices. The efficiency …

Numerical estimation of basic arithmetical operations on bounded random variablesAbstract The objective of the study is estimating probability density functions of arithmetic operations on random variables. There are many methods that use specific parametrical and non-parametrical models in order to obtain accurate results. However, there are not many studies on speed of convergence and computation complexity of these methods. This paper introduces a new method of estimation used to obtain results on bounded random variables. The method is based on a new publication provided by Jaroszewicz and Korzen (2012). The algorithm uses numerical analysis techniques such as numerical integration and curve interpolation. Author's method is compared to the well-known Monte Carlo method.KeywordsRandom Variables, Arithmetical operations, Numerical integration, Curve Interpolation, Monte Carlo Method, Convergence.Click here to Download Full Paper_________________________Small Farm Agrifood Supp…

Radio Frequency Identification Technology in LibrariesAbstract This paper is a baseline document to review the latest technologies, algorithms and available hardware that can be used to build and automate a library system using Radio Frequency Identification technology as the infrastructure, allowing the librarian to track and manage real-life objects. The purpose is to review the current research that have been accomplished around this area in order to produce the best possible design, and implementation of a robust solution with maximum efficiency to automate a library system. The article first provides an overview of the radio frequency identification technology, its history, radio frequency principle, and how distance and frequency can affect the signal coverage distance. Then radio frequency identification structure and types are explained, after that the paper evaluates the latest researches in the radio frequency identification infrastructure and middleware. Finally the issue …
